Annabelle

A young, married couple expecting their first child got their home invaded by members of a Satanic cult. The vintage porcelain doll that the husband, John Form, gifted to his pregnant wife, Mia Form, is stained with the female cultist’s blood and, in effect, possessed by a demon. It doesn't stop there; as supernatural events keep following the couple even after they move to a new apartment.
This is the first ever spin-off movie in The Conjuring universe that got green-lit after positive responses from audiences about the doll’s brief appearance in The Conjuring movie. Although Annabelle wasn’t as great as its later sequels, we can say it’s at least worth watching for horror fans.

Although it’s the 9th film installment in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series, this movie serves as a direct sequel to the 1974 original, ignoring prior sequels and reboots. Your favorite killer, Leatherface, resurfaces after 48 years in hiding. To bring the nostalgia back and prove that it’s a direct sequel to the 1974 film, director David Blue Garcia brings back the original and only survivor, Sally Hardesty, now as a Texas Ranger who seeks revenge on Leatherface.
Dawn of the Dead
- Year: 2004
- Director: Zack Snyder
- Stars: Sarah Polley, Ving Rhames, Jake Weber, Mekhi Phifer, Ty Burrell, Michael Kelly
- Runtime: 1 hour, 41 minutes
This movie completely changed how we think about zombies. Instead of them shambling, they run! Imagine how much scarier that sounds if it's IRL. The story follows during a zombie apocalypse when Sarah Polley as nurse Ana and a group of survivors are holed up in a shopping mall and they are desperate to escape from the danger to an island sanctuary.
Even though it's Zack Snyder's debut feature film, with a script by James Gunn (interesting collab), this remake actually improved on many elements from Romero's original in 1978. The makeup effects are incredibly realistic, with zombies shown in different stages of decomposition. Plus, the action sequences are intense and the pacing never lets up, not to forget the exquisite composition and cinematography by Matthew F. Leonetti that just mmph *chef's kiss*.

- Stars: Sophie Wilde, Alexandra Jensen, Joe Bird, Otis Dhanji, Miranda Otto
- Runtime: 1 hour, 35 minutes
What starts as a party trick turns deadly when a group of friends dares Mia, a grieving teen, to use a haunted embalmed hand, say ritual words “Talk to me” and “I let you in” to contact spirits and let go within 90 seconds. It all went south after Mia didn’t break the ritual after a minute and a half, as she saw her mother’s spirit reaching out to her. As a consequence, her friend’s younger brother became violently possessed and the rest is tragic.
Talk to Me is still A24’s highest-grossing horror film ever after 3 years, even though it's a directorial debut by the twin Australian YouTuber bros, channel name: RackaRacka.
